Grant Jamieson

Satellite System Engineer

Wireless Innovation

Grant has been technically involved with all aspects of satellite communications for the past 20 years. He has designed and built large RF and IP networks for defence, mining, oil and gas sectors to name a few, and is well recognised in the satellite communications industry. Putting his wealth of experience to some cutting-edge projects, Grant has recently joined the Wireless Innovation team in Australia as the Network & Engineering Manager and oversees the complete design and implementation of all critical infrastructure. Utilising his experience to implement and deploy some of the most complicated network environments to support large-scale projects within public safety across the globe.

Wireless mesh networks explained and applied — what can they do for you?

Wireless mesh is nothing new and has been used in defence, surveillance and media broadcasting for years. However, with more advanced waveforms and the ever-increasing demand for high-speed data across large geographical areas, demand is increasing.

This presentation takes a look at how these waveforms can be applied to provide truly robust ‘last mile’ connectivity for the IP networks of the future and how they fit with the future ‘vehicle as the hub’ topology. Grant will explain the technology around COFDM and its benefits for direct mode IP mesh networks.
